Welcome to Allama Iqbal Open University, the largest university of Asia in distance education, which primarily focuses on the educational needs of masses by providing quality education at their doorsteps all over the country and by blurring spatial and temporal boundaries. Currently, the university offers unique educational opportunities to a huge proportion of 1.4 million students in a diverse and dynamic range of programs starting from Matriculation to the PhD level.

The University exclusively focuses on enhancing female literacy ratio in the country so that women can perform their vital role in the process of national progress and development. The university takes same special initiatives for the underprivileged and marginalized segments of the society not only for their economic empowerment but also for poverty alleviation in the country.

Department of Commerce is one of the earliest academic departments of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities AIOU. Subject of Commerce is the backbone of any business concern in today’s world. The role of commerce professionals has become highly demanding and challenging.
It is exciting for AIOU is striving hard to develop a new generation of Commerce graduates to work with academics and professional staff of Department of Commerce, the students, alumni and other stakeholders, that make up the vibrant community of business and commerce at the Allama Iqbal Open University.

Welcome you to the website of Department of Commerce Allama Iqbal Open University. Recognizing the growing need for professionally trained specialists in banking and industrial sectors, the department was established in 1974. Department of Commerce is one of the pioneering academic departments of AIOU, established in 1974 to cater needs of the wide range of people interested in commercial field. Since its inception, thousands of Commerce graduates have got education and are serving the nation in different capacities as part of the country’s trained workforce. The department is offering I.Com, B.Com, Associate Degree in Commerce, BS-Accounting & Finance and M.Com programs. The department is offering specializations in Logistics Management, Insurance Management, International Trade and Accounting & Finance. Our faculty all the times remains busy in keeping the scheme of studies and courses updated. Our all programs are in accordance with IBCC and HEC guidelines.
